Our Story

CHPO is a watch and eyewear brand founded in Sweden in 2013, inspired by skateboarding, music and art. We are Made for Everywhere, which means we offer great looks, great quality and great social values at prices anyone can afford. We are also proud to say that a majority of our products are made from recycled materials. Drop by drop a river is formed.

We as a brand take a strong social stand for an equal society without racism, homophobia and hatred against women. As a part of Made for Everywhere, we do collaborations every season with different non-profit or charity organisations where 100% of the profits are donated to their cause.

If you hate homosexuals, people of different color or women, please do this one favor for us. Don’t buy our gear.

Sustainability
We try our best not to have a negative impact on the environment. This is why all of our sunglasses are made out of recycled plastic. All of our watches are fully recyclable, and follow EU’s environmental standards. That is also why we only use vegan leather for our watch straps.

CleanHub
CleanHub's mission is to build waste management infrastructure in communities where it’s needed most. By partnering with CleanHub we are proud to say we are enabling these communities to be at the forefront of the battle against ocean plastic pollution.

ReSteel is our name for recycled stainless steel. Using recycled steel is a great way to help make the planet a little greener.

Bioplastic Packaging
Polylactic acid (PLA), a plastic substitute made from fermented plant starch (in our case, corn) is a biodegradable alternative to traditional petroleum-based plastics.

By wearing our products you will not only look good, you will also do good! To prove this, we have listed our certificates below.

The Global Recycled Standard is a holistic certification for products with recycled content.

RoHS stands for Restriction of Hazardous Substances. RoHS, also known as Directive 2002/95/EC, originated in the European Union and restricts the use of specific hazardous materials found in electrical and electronic products.

PETA is the largest animal rights organization in the world, with more than 6.5 million members and supporters. We are proud to be PETA-Approved which proves that all our products are 100% vegan.

Factories
We work with two factories. One for sunglasses and one for watches. Both factories offer a friendly work atmosphere, reasonable working hours, good salaries and welfare systems. Otherwise they wouldn’t be our factories.

Factories
We work with two factories. One for sunglasses and one for watches. The sunglass factory, JH Eyewear, has 77 employees and is located in Duqiao Town in Shanghai. Our contact is named Joan and she is not only a good friend of ours but also a great cook.

The watch factory, Timeya, is located in Shenzhen and Hong Kong and has 30 employees. James is the name of our contact there. He speaks faster then he runs, but he does love to run.

Recycled Plastic
Our sunglass frames are made from recycled and GRS certified polycarbonate. And as if that wasn’t enough, the pouch that comes with our sunglasses is made out of recycled PET-bottles. That could be enough, but it isn’t. The plastic bags we use within and around our packaging are made out of corn.

Goggles
The frame is made from recycled post-consumer thermoplastic urethane, while the strap is made from recycled polyester and recycled nylon. Both GRS certified.

ReSteel is our name for recycled stainless steel. Since Spring 2021, we only use recycled stainless steel when producing our metal glasses. A part of our watch collection, the Wednesday watches, are also made from recycled stainless steel.

Using recycled steel is a great way to help make the planet a little greener. When scrap metal is recycled, it is put to good use rather than taking up space in a junkyard. ReSteel is the way forward!

Vegan leather
All of our leather look wristbands are made out of recycled nylon and PU. PU is made by coating a backing fabric such as cotton, nylon or shredded leather with a flexible polymer and then treating it to look more like animal hide. Polyurethane upholstery is the most realistic imitation of genuine leather, with respect to hand, surface feel, and overall appearance. When stitched, gathered, or tufted it actually “breaks” or wrinkles like real leather. Because there are no plasticizers used in PU upholstery there is no cracking or peeling, and it remains soft. PU resins are made of a softer polymer and therefore don’t need additional plasticizers.

PETA is the largest animal rights organization in the world, with more than 6.5 million members and supporters. PETA focuses its attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: in laboratories, in the food industry, in the clothing trade, and in the entertainment industry. To be PETA-Approved proves that all products are 100% vegan.

Bioplastic Packaging
The plastic bags we use within and around our packaging are made out of corn.

Polylactic acid (PLA), a plastic substitute made from fermented plant starch (in our case, corn) is a biodegradable alternative to traditional petroleum-based plastics. The huge benefit of PLA as a bioplastic is its versatility and the fact that it naturally degrades when exposed to the environment. For example, a PLA bottle left in the ocean would typically degrade in six to 24 months (don’t throw it in the ocean), compared to conventional plastics which in the same environment can take several hundred to a thousand years to degrade.

PLA is technically “carbon neutral” in that it comes from renewable, carbon-absorbing plants, as yet another way to reduce our emissions of greenhouse gases. PLA will not emit toxic fumes when incinerated.

There are still issues with the use of polylactic acid such as its slow rate of biodegradability and its inability to mix with other plastics in recycling. Since PLA is plant-based, it needs to be disposed of in industrial composting facilities. If you can’t find a recycling facility near you, the bioplastic should be thrown in the regular trash.

We do however think that bioplastic is the better alternative here, and hope that the possibilities to recycle gets better and easier within a near future.

In Sweden, you can recycle these as regular plastic packaging.

The desired effect of the GRS is to provide brands with a tool for more accurate labelling, to encourage innovation in the use of reclaimed materials, to establish more transparency in the supply chain, and to provide better information to consumers.

REACH testing is the testing of products manufactured, imported or retailed in the European Union against REACH Regulation. REACH Regulation is a European Union Regulation concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals. REACH testing is one of the methods used to determine whether or not products contain restricted chemicals, or substances of very high concern (SVHCs).

RoHS stands for Restriction of Hazardous Substances. RoHS, also known asDirective 2002/95/EC, originated in the European Union and restricts the use of specific hazardous materials found in electrical and electronic products. The substances banned under RoHS are lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), hexavalent chromium (CrVI), polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE), and four different phthalates (DEHP, BBP, BBP, DIBP).The restricted materials are hazardous to the environment and pollute landfills, and are dangerous in terms of occupational exposure during manufacturing and recycling.
