Details

The Flying Fish is one of the most popular and boards throughout Australian surf culture. The Flying Fish was developed back in 2013 and is now enjoyed by grommets all across the world to improve their surfing.

Performance

Grommets can push the Flying Fish to do more advanced surf turns and maneuvers – the board will respond. Groms will be able to practice their bottom turns, generating speed, and also tail slides.

Thruster D Technology

The 30" Flying Fish model comes with the new SmoothStar Thruster D technology. The Thruster D is the latest in precision engineering that gives surfers the ultimate surf feeling with 15-12% more hold and drive through your surf turns. It's also lighter and comes with a 5 year warranty

Why choose this model?

The 30” Flying Fish is a responsive, sharp turning and slightly cheeky model designed for younger surfers. It is perfect for practicing surf maneuvers such as the bottom turn or a cutback. The wide, slightly concave deck and swallow kicker makes it easy to perform effortless tail slides.

Why doesn't SmoothStar recommend the Flying Fish for surfer dads and mums?

The entire functionality of this board has been carefully adapted to those of a groms with a narrower surf stance, lighter weight and inline with how their body will move like they would when they surf. If an adult was to use this board, they would need to change the natural way they would surf such as stance and posture in order to ride this model.

Why hasn't SmoothStar changed this model in over ten years?

Why fix something that isn't broken? This model has been given praise every year for how well it works, it is now an icon in junior surfing progression world-wide. It is easily recognisable and surfers from all the world know its great for groms.
